Nearly 25,000 Experiencing Power in Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Powerful Storms

Around 25,000 households in southeastern Queensland found themselves without power on Monday morning after intense storm systems swept through the state, generating powerful gusts topping 109km/h.

Substantial Hailstones and Extensive Destruction

Homeowners reported substantial frozen pellets measuring up to 7 centimeters in some areas. Weather authorities announced that multiple regions across the state had been affected by large hailstones.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing power throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews activated to address the extensive power failures.

Victoria's Storm Challenges

Meanwhile, nearly one thousand energy customers in Victoria also faced power outages after the capital city recorded its most precipitation in over 500 days.

Emergency response teams responded to over five hundred requests for assistance across the region, primarily for structural issues but also for downed trees and inundation.

• Werribee region - recorded substantial destruction
• Hoppers Crossing suburb - numerous emergency calls
• Wyndham area - over 175 calls for assistance

At one point on Sunday, over 28k power users in Victoria were without power.

Meteorological Predictions

Moist weather were forecast to persist along much of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.

Tomorrow was expected to become the most rainy day, with ongoing storm activity predicted across different parts of both regions.

Health Warning

Public health experts alerted that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, specifically given the current weather patterns.
