Tragic News on UPS Accident: Death Toll Rises to 13

The total count of fatalities from the transport jet that burst into flames and went down has now climbed to 13, as confirmed by latest statements.

City Leader's Statement

“On my way to the Workers’ candlelight gathering, I received word of a thirteenth victim that passed away as a outcome of the plane accident,” stated the city mayor in a online message. “My thoughts is with the relatives, friends and co-workers of all who were killed in this recently occurred disaster. We will overcome this as one.”

“Our thoughts reach out to each UPSer who has been affected and everyone in our local region – assisting you and ensuring you obtain the attention and resources you need is our main concern,” the organization’s message read.

Inquiry Details

National authorities revealed that the UPS cargo plane’s wing caught fire and an power plant detached just after takeoff from the airfield, leading to the jet to fall and explode into a blaze.

The National Transportation Safety Board stated it is examining the plane’s upkeep logs, which was in Texas for maintenance several weeks ahead of the crash.

Aviation records revealed the plane was on the runway in the Texas city from 3 September to 18 October.

“We are aware that this plane was located in the facility,” stated an investigator on the following day, not giving a specific date range. “We will review each aspect of repairs that was completed, even the Texas visit, all the way to the day of the flight.”

Findings of Key Components

The cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder were retrieved, and the engine was found on the tarmac.

The recorders – called flight recorders – were designed to withstand accident forces and severe temperatures from blazes, and they appeared to be in one piece when located amid the wreckage. Authorities intend to examining data from the recorders.

Aircraft’s final flight details showed an elevation of that level and a speed of 210 mph ahead of the accident.

Maintenance History

According to FAA records from 18 September, a fracture on a part inside the tank area needed maintenance.

Singapore-based ST Engineering, which indicated it offers airframe maintenance for the carrier’s jet and manages a maintenance center in that city, declined to provide remarks, but expressed it would cooperate fully when officials approached it.

Operations Restart

In the meantime, the hub activities restarted that evening with its express or night sort process, spokesperson Jim Mayer said. All three runways at the airport were also back in operation.

The distribution hub in the city is the organization’s largest. The center employs in excess of 20,000 workers in the area, manages three hundred flights each day and processes more than a huge volume of packages each hour.

Local Response

A candlelight vigil was held on the evening of 6 November by the local labor union, which supports workers at the aviation hub, the company’s primary shipping facility.

Worker representatives, which supports UPS workers, started the memorial with a moment of silence at that time, the estimated time of the accident two days earlier.

“This event was so abrupt, so unexpected,” the mayor spoke to the group of attendees. “No one had a chance to part to each of those who we have lost.”
